My Drain plug on filter basket appears stripped because it is leaking water. I replaced with new plug but doing same thing (with and without gasket)

My Drain plug on filter basket appears stripped because it is leaking water. I replaced with new plug but doing same thing (with and without gasket) I am thinking the interior threads may be stripped? Any suggestions? I’ve used Teflon tape. TIA
