Since my $5 S200 repair post from end of June 2022, I’m happy to report that the S200 cleaner is still going strong every day. Hope this might help someone else with a similar problem before forking over a ton of cash on a new one although I realize that not all problems are identical.

Glad it was just the brushes. If you open up the impeller motor, it’s likely caked with carbon dust. That will eventually cause the bearings to fail. Replacing the bearings is work but only costs about $40.

The real problem with these robots is when water gets into the motor assembly and destroys the drive motor. The drive motor can not be rebuilt and it is not available as a replacement part. Maytronics does not allow replacement drive motors to be sold. You can find old scrap motors on eBay but many of them are sold as “not operational” and you’re typically getting them from an overseas seller with a no returns policy.

Eventually the motors die in all of these robots and they are currently $450 to replace it in most models.

Good luck and I hope your fix lasts.
