Looks like it to me. Yes, you can take the cover off. Two recommendations: 1) Do not use a drill or drill driver. Remove and replace the screws by hand. 2) I would get a replacement kit (like the one below). Would not be fun if you take it off, clean or whatever, and find the seal is bad, or put it back together and the seal doesn't work.I was looking at what I believe is a Magic Plastics check valve in my plumbing. The plastic view window is hard to use. Has anyone cleaned one of these? I believe you can just take the clear plastic off with the 6 screws.
The outside looks like dirt. The inside looks like condensate. Maybe just run your pump at high speed with the right valves open to see if you can clear the condensate. This was just installed about 3 months ago. I hope it's not bad already. It's the makeup valve that goes to the spa. I'm not sure why it looks so dirty (could be low flow). I want to see flow, so I know the lowest RPM on my VSP with water going the spa.
That worked. I diverted most of the water while the pump was priming and it cleared it up.The outside looks like dirt. The inside looks like condensate. Maybe just run your pump at high speed with the right valves open to see if you can clear the condensate.
