Silly question...but want to confirm before replacing parts.

My Jxi400 jandy heater isn't firing up.
Everything was working great. Around May or June was last time we fired up the spa.
Now that it's cool again we wanted to start using it.
I did a lot of troubleshooting (thanks to this site!). Everything checks out ok w the heater. But heater still won't ignite. Troubleshooting flow chart points to gas supply.
I'm now focusing on the regulator.

I have a large tank with 1st stage regulator. At the heater i have 2nd stage regulator (as seen in pic).

I've attached a manometer to the 2 ports (to measure both independently and differential).

There is gas pressure on the regulator inlet.
There is NO gas pressure on the outlet test port.

Seems straight forward the regulator has failed.
Am I missing anything or would you agree replacing regulator is a good idea.
All equipment is 5 years old.

It sounds like the regulator is bad, but What is the inlet pressure and what outlet pressure are you looking for?
The outlet pressure should be 11" WC. The inlet pressure is usually 2 psi, but can be as higher depending on the system.

The inlet pressure is unchanged from when it worked, and yes, near 2 psi.
I'm targeting these values

Could you show a picture of the actual regulator and it's mounting orientation? A bit odd that it would fail after only 5 years.

It may be that the vent is oriented in a manner that is allowing moisture or debris to collect in the diaphragm housing and that is not allowing the diaphragm to open.

Without knowing the model I can't look up a diagram to see if it would potentially fail open or closed.

I'd say it's installed correctly... vent is down plumbed about 10 ft away.
The model is MEGR-1652D-DFF

Have you confirmed that the vent conduit is clear of any blockage? Where does the vent exit? Are there any low points in the vent line where condensation could accumulate? If it is plugged it will inhibit the ability of the diaphragm to move.

Thanks Jeff
I did check that and even removed vent conduit.
No change still no ignition ... still seems no gas pressure on outlet.
There was some dirt in the pipe/fitting....but vent is clear.
This is the other end of vent....installed w weather head.

I have a guy coming out...hope to solve issue!

Weird that you have debris up in the vent port like that.

Definitely a low point in the vent conduit since it appears to run along the ground between the reg and the outlet. Might get a shop vac/air compressor and blow the vent conduit out just to ensure that is clear, although your service person should do this.

Please do let us know what the service person finds!

Ends up the regulator was bad. Strange though...took it apart and the diaphragm was perfect. Did a few "tests"....vent functioned too.

But, changed it out and back in business.
Thank you for the sounding board and advice.
Happy hot tubbin'
