Hello, we went on vacation and of course the pool was green when we came back (Sorry, no 'before pic'). Salt was low, PH was high and zero CYA (It loses CYA, whole different thread...). Dropped ph, added CYA to 30 and I've gone through 30 gallons of liquid chlorine, 2 filter changes (just now on 3rd), 3+ robovacs a day and it's still cloudy! The first couple days, vac and filters covered in algae as expected but since then not much. I had one overnight FC drop of just one and then its been 3-4+ overnights and 2-4 drops most recently at 4 hour intervals. All adds were per pool math app and tests with a taylor k 2006 (fas-dap) purchased this month. Am i still on track with it being blue/green/grey or have I missed something?

Hey MP and Welcome !!!
added CYA to 30
Did it register and hold ?

Do you have a manual vac ? There's no vac like the old skool head on a pole deal. The others' convenience is great but its like dustbusting a hoarder house when used for a SLAM.

Go on a full blown algae treasure hunt while you wait. Every inch is suspect until its beem scrubbed, including the hidden ones like autofills or ladder rails.

It’d be helpful if you could put the test results in poolmath as well. Losing CYA quickly is not something normal and I’d want to figure out why that was. Possibilities include:
1. A leaking auto-fill will constantly push water into the pool and if there’s an overflow drain, will slowly dilute the CYA.

2. Ammonia. But ammonia will consume all available chlorine very fast.

3. Testing error.

See if you can narrow down the options and post some test results as well.

Cya is more or less holding at this point. Previous two summers it was 'started' at 70 but would be unreadable by end of summer (with very little actual usage but blistering Texas heat). No auto fill option, just me and a hose when it evaporates off. Pool math and fresh testing supplies this year and hoping to track and correct things much earlier this summer.

No manual vac with this setup and it has an 8' deep end. I'm already at the max extension with the pole and brush and using it daily to supplement the bot's minimal brushing effectiveness. It's more or less working on collecting dead algae, frogs, bugs and the occasional leaf. The first two days though, it was picking up a significant amount of green algae then pretty much none.
