Hello all , My name is Niels.
So I've been a long time lurker here, I acquired an above ground pool years ago and wanted to recess it, read several postings and finally went all in and achieved the most awesome install for a first timer. It was no more than a 1/8" bubble off level on the sides . It was a 16x32 with Hayward cartridge system and a 1hp pump. I followed all the TFP recommended procedures for FC ,PH,CYA etc and had an amazing set up. Thank you all for everything with that. I had other pool owners ask how much was my chems bill and when I told em it was maybe 300 or so a year and heard they spending at least that a month or more I knew this forum has the most knowledgeable people !
Forward a few years ...Now we are in a new house that has an older, not sure of age and owner cant remember when it was installed but probably 15+ yrs. Its a 15x30 4' shallow and 8' deep. " im thinking its 8' " set up diving pool , w/ pentair Sand and the motor im not 100 as of yet. Due to me being gone with work since we signed on the new place.
"Supposedly" the previous owner had someone coming out and handling the maintenance. Well shorten the story i have been back here now and reading up and refreshing the knowledge , having my son who's there begin the process of getting it right and using the BBB again. It's got the dolphin auto in and running, the water and walls were starting algae, discoloration/ Cloudy was beginning in water. Now after several days we have clear water and blue pool again. Getting the levels ballanced almost ideal, and it's been just a week . I've had the TF100 kit before but now ordered the PRO! So no guessing or relying on someone else.
I appreciates the positive and helpful members that are so interactive on site. So much that I tackled the above / recessed solo project with confidence and am looking forward to our first IG FG setup.
Heres a crazy thing about the whole process in this is I've only looked at the house online and 1x in person, inspections have been done obviously but not the pool itself but overlooking equipment and condition when I was there looks like we made a great decision overall. The pool and outdoor area was a major factor in our decision to purchase due to having our kids and grandkids over quite often and now hopefully even more !!!!
Anyway sorry for rambling on , it's my Quick introduction!!!
