Hi all,
I have a VSFP1.0 that has a leak that appears to be between the motor and the backplate. I removed all the bolts from motor and housing and found that the o-ring at the backplate was showing signs of damage, so I replaced that. The smaller diffuser o-ring isn't bad, bit too shows some signs of needing to be replaced. I'm just wondering what else might be leaking to allow the water to get out beyond the backplate? The water is definitely coming out of the bottom 2 bolts of the motor housing at the backplate. I'm thinking the mechanical seal might need to be replaced. Any thoughts?

Your mechanical/shaft seal needs replacing. It is what prevents water from reaching the motor. When it fails you will see water leak out the bottom between the wet end and the motor.

Thanks, that's what I thought. Is this a relatively straight forward replacement or should I get a pro involved?
