I have an in ground pool with a Jandy Zodiac Flopro 1.5 self priming pump. It turns on briefly, maybe 30 seconds, then will turn itself off. I then have to wait a few minutes. I will hear a click and I can turn it on again. The cycle repeats. It is not tripping the breaker.
At first I thought it was having a tough time getting primed, so I cleaned everything well, and put lubricant around the o-ring to the pump basket, checked all the skimmers, and cleaned the impeller and the filters. I still cannot get it to work. Usually when it operates, it takes a bit of time to fully prime, so now I am thinking it is turning off before it has time to fully prime. It does smell hot around the pump. There was no debris around the housing, but it rinsed everything off for good measure.
I should also mention that I just had a leak detection company out just a week or so ago and all the lines were pressure checked and I am not losing water to the pool.
Any advice on what to try next?
