Last summer when the air temperature was about 100F, the motor for the pool cover would stop several feet before the cover was completely closed. I was able to switch the motor on & off several times to close the cover. Of course when the cover installer came to check on the problem, the motor worked perfectly. Today (one year later) the same thing occurred.
My first thought was that the hot air temperature was somehow affecting the motor. The other thought that I had was 3 months after the problem occurred last year, one of the ropes on the side of the cover broke. Since the rope on the opposite side of the cover appeared to be good, I opted to replace only the broken rope.
My questions are: (1) Is the hot air temperature affecting the motor? (2) Might there be a relationship between a failing rope & the motor stopping? (3) Or is it most likely that the problem is in the motor itself?
Any thoughts would be most appreciated. Thank you so much.
