Is this the "sweet spot" for my pool's ph?

Thanks to all here our pool has remained crystal clear.

FC 8
CC 0
PH 7.4
TA 110
CYA 50

The ph has been at 7.4 for 2 weeks and my TA 110. I added 2 ounces of MA 2 weeks ago when ph was 7.8 and my TA was 90. Do I leave TA where it is as everything is working fine and the pool is fantastic. Don't fix it if it ain't broke...right?

From the sound of it, I would say don't worry about it. All pools have different sweet spots. I was wondering how you test your TA since static electricity can result in smaller drops artificially raising the apparent TA. That's why the test instructions talk about wiping a damp rag on the reagent bottle between drops. However, that may only apply to new reagent bottles and not one you have used for a while.

Mike:

Very simple rule. If your pool does not need something, do not add it. Only add chemicals as needed and not because someone recommended a certain range based on their experience. Alkalinity (Baking Soda) can be as low as 70, but not lower than 60. I keep my TA at around 70-80. Anything higher than this, and I have rising PH.

I will try wiping the bottle like you mentioned later today and i'll post if the results are different, thanks.

Mike.
