Is this just sand or is it CYA

The prior owner left us with a bunch of chemicals, and I've used granular shock and pucks. We're getting a new liner, new water, and going with SWCG. So I opened up an old tub of CYA, but it looks like sand to me. Is this what CYA is supposed to look like?

One thing you can do is to get a large bucket and dissolve a little bit of it and test the CYA…
1/16oz of stabilizer should add almost 100ppm of CYA to 5gal of water. If you have precision metric scale than 1g of stabilizer in 5gal adds about 50ppm of CYA.

I would try to find a way to dispose of it properly. If your local recycle center has a hazardous chemical disposal area I would take it there. It looks like sand, but it’s not safe to assume anything when dealing with mislabeled pool chemicals of unknown origin.
