Wanted to start off by saying THANK YOU to this group because I knew nothing about pools when I joined and was able to successfully maintain my pool all summer because of what I learned here.

As the title reads, I want to switch to a SWG. I am comfortable with the chemicals/testing process with my regular system and have some leftover chemicals to use, so I'm thinking I'll test, grab some chlorine and open the pool "normally." Or should I go straight for the switch to salt water?

Our pool is smaller - less than 4000 gallons. Our current pump is what came with the pool- Krystal Clear Cartlidge Filter Pump - 1000GPH

Looking at adding this Intex Krystal Clear SWG to the mix Amazon.com

Any advice on what's else is needed to do a full switch to Salt Water? Last year I really only used a mix of Dry Acid/Baking Soda/Chlorine and the pool was clean all summer!

If there's already a thread on this please direct me!

If you elect to integrate that SWG into your current system/plumbing, the only other thing left to do is add salt and increase the CYA to about 70. We always recomend salt pool owners test their own salt level with a Taylor K-1766 drop kit. You may already have a salt level in the water, so you don't want to go too high, so test it first. But add salt as needed, let is mix for 24 hrs before activating the SWG, and then also increase the CYA to about 70 - maybe 60 in your area for now. That's it.
