Hi all,

I have an iChlor 15 SWG that is about 5 years old. My wife and I came back after being gone a few days and there was an algae infestation in our pool. I checked the display of the SWG and said "CELL" and the cell LED was flashing green. Now I know by reading the manual that it could be salt level, calcium build-up, or incorrect water chemistry.

I took off the SWG and there was no calcium build-up, the blades were crystal clear and when I did pour in the muriatic acid, it did not fizz, so I went ahead and poured it out.

I plugged the SWG back in and it displayed the chlorine output for about 30 mins before it switched back to saying "CELL".

The only thing I am thinking (actually hoping for after seeing the prices for a new SWG. LOL) is that it could be the salt level in the pool. I checked the SWG salt reading, and it said 3,500 for the salt level which is right at what it should be and also checked with a salt strip and the salt level was around 3,600. Also, while in diagnostic mode, I noticed the run time was over 12,000 hours!

So, all signs point to me having to get a new SWG, unless you guys think there is something else, I could try? I thought if the cell was bad, then the cell LED would flash red...

What do you all think?

Thanks

Aaron

Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss. You two had a heckuva run.

How big is the pool ? The Ichlor is Pentairs budget model and if the 15 lasted that long, it must be on a small pool and I'll forgo my usual rec to upgrade to an IC20/IC40.

Do you all think I can get by at least through this weekend if I SLAM the pool and put some trichlor pucks in the skimmer basket?

Two gallons of chlorine and frequent filter washing should clean you up until your new system comes. Your salt and cya should remain in the zone. After the pool cleans up regular testing and liquid chlorine maintenance should suffice.
