Tried to find this answer, but not seeing my exact situation. I’m switching to a salt water setup this year. I have a Pentair Superflow VS Pump, a Pentair Clean and Clear Plus 240 filter, a Pentair Intellichlor IC40, a Hayward Heatproof 140,000 BTU Heat Pump and a Pentair Intellichlor Power Center 520556.

As I was having the power center wired I realized that I need a timer so the SWG isn’t running all the time since my pump timer is internal. I would love to use the intelliconnect, but it’s not compatible with my pump. What’s my best move here? An external timer (wondering how that messes with my timer on the pool pump) or a flow sensor of some kind (heard that mentioned on the forums, but don’t know anything about it).

Another small side note, my pvc pipes are 1.5” and the Pentair intellichlor is 2”, am I ok using a reducer piece to plumb it to my existing 1.5”?

Thanks in advance.

Other info:
I’m in NY
Pool is in ground, 12,000 gallons
I have an electrical panel near the equipment with plenty of space for more electric needs

I'm in similar situation. Here is what I did to use the timer on the pump and have SWCG only run when pump was running. Hope it helps!

This makes so much more sense now. I didn’t even consider that there wasn’t a plug and play fix, but now I see a whole side of this I didn’t even consider. I think i’m going to go the relay way, but is there any option to just turn the SWG off and run everything else? I guess I could just unplug it from the power center if I needed to? I’m just trying to think of situations where that might be necessary. Thanks so much for helping with this!

If you don’t have automation, you will have to walk over to the IC40 and press the less button for the percentage till the percentage is zero.
