So after following the great advice here about a month ago I successfully SLAMed my pool and had a lovely balanced pool and then…Idalia😡 The tide came up and creek water got in the pool last night (pic attached) and now it’s very green. I assume I need to toss a $&@! ton of liquid chlorine in and keep the filter and robot vacuum going for a while and worry about the rest of the chemistry later? Any advice appreciated.

Test the water first, but assume you’ll need some chlorine to SLAM.

Glad you're safe, because we can fix anything else.

Is the tide gone now or is it still flooded ?

Do you have power ?

Once your power is on and the pool is no longer touching the creek, it's a standard issue SLAM Process like you did. The rodeo experience will REALLY come in handy for this expert mode battle. So there is that. :)

Clearing the sediment may be tricky, but keep us posted and we'll help.

Thank you 🙏 We have power and the creek has gone back to where it came from. I don't anticipate it rising that high again (until another storm anyway - the only other time this happened was during Matthew and we didn't own the house then). It's still too cloudy to assess the level of sediment. I assume I will need to give the cartridge filters a good clean after a day or two. This forum has given me the confidence to tackle this and I am so grateful!

I would raise fc to slam level now so you know you’re covered,
then:
You may need to turn the pump off & see if things settle,
then try to slowly vac the bulk of the sediment to waste (this can take some work arounds like siphon vacuuming if you don’t have an mpv with a waste option)
Then afterwards- filter, filter, filter &
Run the polaris
Do you have the ultra fine sand & silt bag for your polaris?
