Ok Hurricane Harvey Hit and I just got back into town today to assess the damages... the house has been without power for like 2 to 3 days so I know the pump has been off since then... no damage to pool from what I can see but it is full of debris I think I have every leaf from corpus in the bottom of my pool I've started to remove all the debris and its dark out so I just took a FC reading to at least check that. and I was at a 5.0... CC was 0.5 Note: "I did get the chlorine to around 20+ before leaving Town" I know there has been a lot of rain of course so I'm gonna have to drain the pool some... I only have about a 1/4" between the top inside of my skimmer and the water level... I just added a gallon of 8.25 bleach to bring FC back up and try to fight off whatever the debris has caused in the water... What steps should I take to get me back to a TFP... I plan on doing a OCLT tonight. I plan on getting a full set of readings for you guys as soon as I get sunlight tomorrow... I tried to take a pH reading but it puzzled me and didn't seem to be right because I usually always have a pH of around 7.6 to 7.8 and it was reading 7.6 to 7.8 and it's hard to imagine that with the amount of rain we received from the hurricane that all that aeration didnt cause the pH to go up...

Don't bother doing an OCLT tonight if you still have debris in the pool. That will skew the results right off. Start again tomorrow by removing the debris and once its out start a SLAM based on your CYA level. Since you have had so much water in the pool you better run an entire new set of tests, especially the CYA so you'll know how much FC you'll need and not overdose it (which just gets wasted, for the most part).

Remember that the pH test isn't valid if your FC is over 10.

Ok... ? I got out the net and pulled out all the debris and scrubbed the walls and floor with the brush... I won't worry about an OCLT... Tomorrow I'm gonna get up and vacuum the pool... I'm planning on so Should I be letting the pump and SWG run all night tonight since it hasn't ran in 3 days due to the power outage... like I said I did add a gallon of 8.25 bleach to the pool today...

Its your call about the SWG running. It won't provide enough FC at once to give any algae a kick-in-the-tush a big dose of liquid chlorine does, but it can't hurt for sure. Yes, if you feel the pump is safe to run overnight that will help you filter. Keep adding bleach daily and brushing, while your filter works to clear.

Then tomorrow when the debris is all out, test and dose as often as you can. Even hourly. Keep an eye on your filter pressures too. Bleach is the only chemical you need now.

Bleach, filtering and patience :salut:

Ok thanks for the quick responses yippee... I'll go ahead and let the SWG run and do what I can to get this back to where it needs to be... I will keep this thread going and can hopefully have a TFP Pool here soon...

Yes I do have that exact salt kit... ok so I tested and got
FC - 12.0
CYA - 80
SALT - 3800

I figured any other tests would be pointless since my FC is up above 10.0
Still getting some pretty heavy winds so back to cleaning out more debris today...

Ok so I had to go out of town for a while after everything happened... but finally got around to vacuuming the pool and getting the remaining debris out of the pool today... So since the 28th I've only added a gallon of Clorox before I left town My which is what got my FC to 12 as stated in my last post I also checked salt was at 3800 and cya was at 80 so today when I got back in from out of town I cleaned the pool and tested so here are my numbers...

FC - 7
pH - 7.6
TA - 110
CH - 190
CYA - 80
Salt - 3800

My water is still cloudy a little bit I can see the floor but it's not sparkling like I'm used to... I went ahead and added 4 gallons of Clorox to get me up to slam level to see if that helps and turned off my SWG so it can come back down on its own... I will leave my pump and filter running overtime to see what happens... anyone else have any suggestions?
