I know you don't want to vacuum right away after you brush your pool because the particulates will still be floating around. How long should you wait? Does it ever make sense to turn off your pump? In case it matters, my pool is a uniform 4 feet deep all around.

I guess it depends if your hand vacuuming or using a robot/suction vac. I usually brush and then turn my robot on right after because it stays on for about 2 hours I think just scrubbing away. You can also vacuum on separate days from brushing if that helps.

There are 2 reasons to run your pump: generate chlorine (if you have SWG) or to skim your pool. Some people like to run theirs 24 hours at slow speed for constant skimming. I run my pump 8 hours.

Thanks! I am using the old-fashioned method, cheap plastic vacuum head connected via hose to my skimmer. Pushing the telescoping pole around the pool and all that.
