Hi there!
We have been trying to get a handle on our algae since opening. Thought we had it kicked but last week the water started to turn teal. So we started a SLAM but had a house sitter who didn't maintain as diligently but the water was still clear and blue when we got back.
Anyways, our water is still clear and blue and we've been brushing and vacuuming and since getting back mostly maintaining SLAM levels the past few days. I noticed our CC level is super high, like it's off the charts so to say. I've been thinking of doing the overnight loss test and so my question is since we are in the season where sun sets at 930 and rises at 530 is water sampling at 10pm and 5am still enough time to assess any chlorine loss? I don't have much choice clearly but just curious. And to be clear, if we pass it, we should just let the FC drop naturally and keep tabs on the CC? I read an analogy of that being incompletely combusted chlorine so I bet we won't pass the overnight test bc clearly things are still happening in that water. Anywho, thanks for reading and weighing in in advance!
