We are building a vinyl pool in the Atlanta area. It's going so slowly.... two months in now..... But finally the end seems to be in sight. Family of 5, with 3 young kids. We expect to have other families joining us frequently.

The concrete guy came out today and we marked off the decking. I'm not sure about it. Would love your thoughts.

The narrowest spots are 5ft (incl coping), widening to 11ft at the deep end (for loungers, behind a water feature) and to a 12 ft wide semicircle on the long open side (for a possible firepit or just comfy seating set).

Is 5ft too wide for just a walking area? Is the 12ft side space bigger than it needs to be?

And, in a spot along the fence side where I'd hoped to put a couple Adirondack chairs, he thought we could only get to abt 6 ft (incl coping). Is that wide enough for chairs? If not, then I'll shave it down and save the sqft.

If you can see in these pics... The yard is a slope so it's requiring creativity. Concrete steps down at the fence gate, a berm and retaining wall along the fence, and a big berm (and maybe wall, depending on cost) btwn the pool area and remaining yard (where the playset is).

You all are full of great advice and such good info. Please let me know what you think!

Looking at the layout lines, I wouldn't change a thing.

If I were going to change anything, looking toward the deep end, where the decking curves back in toward the pool right at the right corner of the deep end, I'd widen that concrete a little. Maybe a foot or so. More like make that a gentle sweeping curve from the right side around the deep end.

Once it's poured, you're never going to wish it was smaller.

It does not appear that you have much more room to expand but if it were me I would stretch it out more. We enlarged our deck and I have no regrets at all!
