Been away for a few years so starting over. Long story short, our pool was trashed by kids and Gulfstream heat pump burst in three places. I don't recall what size it was since gulfstream does not have a website log in for members and my log in here has changed my profile for my pool equipment even for years ago posts.
Looking for another heat pump size recommendation.
One thing that i did not like with other heater was that when pool pump turned off for the day the heater would go into lock up since there was no water flow, totally understandable but had to reset the the unit all the time. I can get by with a clean pool with pump running around 6 hours.
Any units out there that would sort of not heat and restart when water flow returns?

Thanks.
Any knowledge if they make a heater that will go into stand by mode when water flow is stopped due to using a pump timer?
Also my last heater was a gulf stream and if I remember correctly it was 125000 BTU, all papers disappered.

Run on low speed unless heating and switch to high speed for heating.

If the heat pump will work on low speed, just keep it on low speed.

Maybe keep the pump on low speed and get a relay that will change the pump to high speed when there is a call for heat.

You can use a single pole double throw relay that is triggered by the heat pump operation on call for heat.

The Heat pump contactor coil usually operates on 24 VAC.

So, just get a 24 VAC coil SPDT relay switch that changes the pump speed to high speed for heating.
