I don't know how old this gas heater is, the placard is unreadable. The unit works fine but when it is operating I can smell gas, it has a sort of burnt smell along with maybe a not burnt smell of gas like maybe incomplete combustion. It seems to be getting worse. Any suggestions as to where to look first. Note, there is no smell when the unit is not operating.

Turn the gas off and get it fixed or replace it. That is a dangerous situation.
