Hand held pool cleaner recommendation

I’m looking at one of those battery operated pool cleaners that look like a hand held vacuum. Besides the times when I just want to pick up a small amount of debris, my main purpose would be for cleaning my ledge. The ledge is only a couple inches of water so the robot doesn’t go there. Also, my hose type cleaner that you attach at the skimmer doesn’t work there either because, with it being shallow, it sucks in air and loses prime.

I was looking at some of the cordless pool vacuums online and got a little concerned because one of them said that it needed to be submerged. Obviously, I’m not going to be able to submerge it in two inches of water.

The other feature I’d be interested in is how simple it is to clean the filter mechanism whether it’s a bag type system or more of a canister type filter.

Does anyone have one and do you use it in shallow water (like your first step) where the unit is not totally submerged? Does anyone have one that they would recommend, or conversely, caution me to stay away from?

This is the one I was looking at.

Any reason you don't just brush the dirt from those areas so that the robot can pick it up from the floor?
Yes. That doesn’t seem to be working. Seems like brushing small particles (sand) just stirs them up but they end up back in about the same place after they settle. My neighbor came over with his handheld (an admittedly, by him, cheap one) and it seemed to do the trick. His seemed to work without being fully submerged but that comment in the one I was looking at caught my attention. Plus, I wouldn’t buy anything without consulting the group here - the experts.

That Lydsto vac on Amazon looks good, but the "built-in sensor switch" appears from the photo to be way too high to be easily submerged in shallow areas.

I use the Pool Blaster Max. It's not easy, but with some practice and determination, I can get it to vacuum my top step. It has to be held horizontally. Any lift of the back end will cause it to suck air.

Which one does your neighbor use?

I’m not sure which one my neighbor has. He wasn’t either. When I asked, his answer was something like - a cheap one off of Amazon.

Good thought on the Pool Blaster. I had been looking at that one today and it needed a minimum of about 6 inches. My 1st step is about 4 inches. I never thought about holding it more horizontally. I can see how that could work. Thanks.
