I have two hairline cracks on my concrete pool deck that I'm concerned about. The most concerning one is 5 foot long and starts at the edge of the pool and goes through the middle of the skimmer and ends on the sidewalk . The other one I'm concerned about starts above the tiles in the pool, and goes up the coping on the edge of the pool and is a bit wider, but it is only 2 foot long. Pictures of these two cracks are provided below. The long hairline crack near the skimmer is too small for caulking and I'm not sure that I could get any caulk in the other crack as well, even though it is a bit wider. I got a concrete guy over here to look at the cracks and he said I should get them repaired before closing to keep water out and prevent more damage but he wants a ridiculous price to repair those cracks and has to open them up some to repair them. Do these cracks look concerning and do you think that I need to get them filled by a concrete guy before closing to prevent water from getting in those cracks and causing more damage during the winter? Or should I not worry about them since they are hairline cracks and get them repaired next year? Could the long one near the skimmer cause a crack in the skimmer if it gets worse over the winter? If so, is there a product that I could put over that crack to prevent water from getting in over the winter? Anything I put over these cracks is going to look ugly so I don't want to do anything to these cracks unless it is necessary to prevent more damage over the winter.

They should have put a control joint through the skimmer since the deck is weak at that spot. But that’s hindsight. Only way to repair it is to open up the crack and fill it in with new. But nothing terrible is going to happen between now and spring time. Maybe if you were in Michigan I’d be a little more concerned.
