Going on vacation and need advice!

We will be going on vacation soon and I’m stressing about my pool! I don’t have anyone to keep an eye on it while I’m gone. I was planning on turning the skimmer off and only running the main drain just in case my water gets too low, but what happens if it gets too high from rain and overflows..can it damage anything? My pool is fiberglass if that makes a difference.

I'm assuming that you, just like me, didn't have an overflow access port installed during the install? If you have a good seal between the top of the shell and the coping it will be fine. As for the water, how long will you be away? Just a few days and SLAM level may be fine. Put some tabs in a floater as well. Or a friend or trusty neighbor perhaps to add liquid chlorine every 2-3 days?

Check the forecast- adjust the water level accordingly before u go.
Raise to slam level for your cya FC/CYA Levels & throw some pucks in a floater if your cya can handle it, incase your swg/pump don’t run for some reason. Then have a great vacation!
I have a wifi cam pointed at my pool with the skimmer in view, so i can see it from anywhere via my phone. It allows me to see my water level, & if my pool & robot run on schedule. If there’s a problem I can call someone to go check it out.

I asked my PB about installing one and he told me it was a bad idea and advised against it..we also don’t have a good seal. We ended up having terrible problems with him so I never should have listened ‍♀. We will be gone 8 days. I will try to find someone to dump chlorine in.
