In the next week or so, my pool steps will be repaired and a new liner will be installed in my in-ground pool. The pool is approximately 20,000 gallons, and I have a saltwater generator that was installed a couple years ago. What chemicals do I need to be prepared for and purchase ahead of time so I can get the pool up and running as quickly and safely as possible? I have tons of bags of granular shock from my pre-SWG days, but I know how those are frowned upon due to the other effects the "other" ingredients can have. However, if I can use some of those bags (even just a few) instead of purchasing new, liquid chlorine, I'd love to save the money.

From what I've researched, it sounds like I'll need to start with adding CYA to get that dissolving as soon as possible, then add some chlorine shock to get the FC levels up to a good spot. From there can I turn on the SWG, or should I have that running as soon as the pool is filled enough and I can turn the filter on? I imagine too that it would be smart to go ahead and stock up on lots of bags of salt to get the salt levels to the correct readings.

Any advice is greatly appreciated as I'd like to avoid any algea outbreaks especially now that warmer temperates are here. Thank you!
