This is the first year I have tried manual chlorine dosing and need some advice------do you dose every day or can you double dose and skip a day?? I have been testing with dpd powder and dosing every day and was wondering if double dose and skip was safe

I only manually dose, and don't see anything wrong with going to SLAM level and letting it fall for a couple days to the middle of the recommended range — assuming it takes that long — then repeating the process. A downside is that doing so is less economic since the UV will eat more of your higher level chlorine compared to keeping the pool at a lower value. But I'm no expert.

Sure you can skip a day. Road test the double dose, of course, and adjust the target as necessary. Sometimes you need a skootch more to make it 2 days.
