Hi all, we’ve had our 18,000 gallon pool for about 2 weeks now and I just conducted my first test using the TF-Pro kit. (Had our water tested at our local pool store first 2 weeks). After entering the results in the pool math app and seeing my results, do I simply just go to a store and by the recommended chemicals and dump the recommended amount in and call it good until the next weekly test? Sorry for the total newb question. Lady at the pool store sold us 4 gallons of liquid shock and said to put a gallon in every week and as long as the PH is good we’ll be fine. Somehow I have a hard time believing that….

Great job on the test kit. FC and PH get tested daily. FC gets added daily. Use this chart.
At the end of the day, you need to be free and clear above minimum. Anytime you dose, you are dosing to stay free and clear above minimum until the next dose. Give yourself 2ppm wiggle room, plus the recent daily loss, plus minimum.
Target range is a range as the daily loss is like a bell curve. You might lose 1 or 2 daily in May/Sept and 3 or 4 in July/Aug. So it changes with the point in the season. But you lose it daily with the UV from the sun, not weekly.
Post your full results and so long as your FC is free and clear above minimum, we always have plenty of time to work on the others as they are all long term concerns.
