Hello all, been lurking for a bit now, happy to have found this resource.

I've finally got my pool "somewhat" up. I started adding water to get the liner wrinkles out and then a couple more feet. I need to get the top rails, skimmer, filter and pump installed. All of which I plan on getting done this weekend. So since this past weekend I've had 2' of water in there and it's rained a bit the last couple of nights. I notice the water was a little stinky last night and getting a hair cloudy.

What I don't have yet, test kit or cleaning equipment. I started looking at cleaning equipment and see the easiest way to go would be with a robot, starting off around $500... is that really necessary for a pool my size? Or can I get the TF-100 Deluxe kit and get both covered? How often do you have to scrub it down?

If it were me I would throw some liquid chlorine in there. The rain and sitting stagnant is going to get messy quick. What size pool? You didn't say. I have a aquabot rover. 4th robot I've owned. It wasn't 500 it was less than 400 on Amazon. That kit looks like a bunch of stuff that's way over priced. A pool brush is like 12 dollars and the rest isnt much more.I have the Taylor K-2006 so I can't speak for the tf-100. That whole package looks way overpriced to me.
 
Thanks for responding scootchu, the pool info is in my sig. Which aquabot do you own, are you having to replace them every year?

As for the test kits bundles, the price didn't look to bad, the kits by themselves run $70, the speedstir and wall brush are 40 ea... that's 150 there, so the prices didn't see outrageous unless you're saying the wall brush itself isn't needed.

For anyone that wouldn't mind chiming in, these seem to be essential items.

Also, do you combine a pole vacuum cleaning w/ a brush cleaning? Does that make sense what I'm asking, do you need a vacuum cleaner if you are manually brushing?
 
Yes, you will still need to get a vacuum head and hose to be able to get debris off the bottom of the pool. And I brush both the sides and bottom of pool. The whale will help with the sides. Are your seats rated to be walked on? Thats how I vacuum and Brush.

I don't get many leaves during the swim season and would not need the leaf net. I believe the ANGEL is for in-grounds with a deep skimmer. It would not fit in my skimmer for the above ground.
 
I'm looking at the TF-100 then doing the Speedstir and Salt strips as part of their options then the wall brush and skimmer ala cart. Doing that is $166, so picking up that deluxe bundle for $186 covers everything plus i get a ph meter and thermometer... although doing this gives me a couple things I won't use, like the angel and probably the fine leaf rake.
