Filter skimmer - Lock/unlock?

Hello,
Any idea why my swim spa skimmer has a 'lock/unlock' feature on top?
No matter how much I turn it using immeasurable amounts of force, nothing turns or moves to a 'lock or unlock position'.
What is it that is supposed to lock?

PS: I know it may seem simple, just hold and turn, but as described above I have tried turning, lining things up, and nothing moves, nothing is stuck. There is just nothing to move.

Why are you trying to take it apart?

Is this a Nordic Spa?

Try pushing down and then turn.

If it is a nordic, and still won't turn this might be your Huckleberry...

I saw a YouTube video on someone taking the top piece off. Wasnt sure if we had to or if it was just there to take apart to clean it more thoroughly.

Only to dump stuff out if needed. If yours is like mine not much big stuff ever gets caught in there anyway. If you can’t get it off maybe you can just spray it out instead?

Thanks for all of the replies. I was finally able to get it out by looking at all the info above. I had to push and twist. The plastic tab must have been bent because now it comes out no problem.
