Hello,

I am looking to start up a 35 - 40k pool that has been dormant for at least 8 years. I need to get all new equipment and I am not sure what to do about the filter. A local pool company told me a 300lb (24 or 27 inch?) sand filter would be what they recommend. (They don't recommend cartridge filters for whatever reason.) Online it seems most people would recommend a 30 inch filter. The price difference between a 27 inch and a 30 inch is significant. Nearly $300 more for the higher capacity sand filter. Any recommendations? Would the smaller filter simply need to be backwashed more often? I am leaning twoards pairing this with a Pentair VS 1.5 hp pump. Thanks in advance.

Dan
