FAS DPD Chlorine Tester

I've successfully completed my first SLAM process to open my pool! Finished it in 4 days, 50% faster from last year's opening using traditional pool store approach. Thank you TFP!

Now onto chlorine maintenance... the only tester I could find here in Canada is the Taylor K2006 through Amazon, but it's so darn expensive (~CDN$215 with shipping, before taxes).

I'm only interested to have a FAS DPD chlorine tester, and considering to just purchase the Taylor FAS DPD reagent refill kit. It has both the R-0870 DPD powder and R-0871 FAS DPD titrating reagent good for about 100 tests. It costs ~CDN$82 via Amazon with shipping, before taxes.

And since I don't have the test vial that comes with the K2006 kit, I'm thinking of just using a graduated cylinder or something similar where I can put the 10ml or 25ml pool water sample.

Do you think this will work? Or do I absolutely need to use the same test vial from the K2006 kit?

I have sort of a related question. The test sample vial that came with my K-2006C seems to have gotten a very light pink
hue, even though I rinse after each test. I've only had the kit for a month or so. Is this normal? Should I be using a separate vial for the FAS/DPD test so colors won't be distorted for the TA and CH tests?

For anyone in Canada who wants to purchase just the FAS DPD chlorine tester from Taylor, I found the following options:

Option 1: K-1515 test kit sold by Water and Ice pool store in Ontario (Taylor Water Test Kits - Pools). They have two sizes:
- A kit (0.75oz/22ml) for CDN$55 + tax
- C kit (2oz/60ml) for CDN$135 + tax
Shipping is about CDN$20 to Quebec and Ontario, not sure for other provinces.

Option 2: order reagent refills from Amazon.ca. Look for the following item numbers:
- B00QRI2UCA (2oz/60ml FAS reagent #871 and 10g DPD powder #872)
- B0002IXIKY (2oz/60ml reagent #3)
Downside to this option is you won't have a test vial and container.

I went with Option 2 because it's cheaper than the C kit from Water and Ice. I was able to buy both items from Pool Spa Supplies seller, and together they cost about CDN$108 with shipping. I already have a test vial from another pool testing kit (PoolMaster) and a graduated cylinder for measuring water sample.
