extra chlorine at closing

Is there any benefit or negative effect of adding some extra chlorine at closing. We get a hard freeze with temps in the single digits (or below) for about 2 months of the winter so the pool is completely frozen.
I have some extra chlorine from this summer as the SWCG kept up to demand and I didn't have any need to run a SLAM. I know it won't be any good next spring when I would normally start to add it again (degradation over time) and I don't really have room to store it over the winter (with the pump, filter and hoses taking up all the 'pool' space in my basement).
I was going to just bring it to SLAM level (CYA of 70 - so about 28 of FC) but I have enough chlorine to bring it to about 40.
Will this cause any problems (liner degradation, salt content increase, etc.)?
I have an Eliminator winter cover (https://www.poolsuppliescanada.ca/pool-winter-supplies/eliminator-xtreme-winter-covers/?sl=en) so I don't drop the water level over the winter and don't need to add any in the spring but there is a significant water exchange that happens automatically as the snow melts and gets filtered by the cover and then the extra water drains from the pool via the skimmer. I can balance the salt next spring either via back-washing or adding salt but if the extra chlorine over the winter is going to harden my liner I want to avoid that.
Thanks

If you chose to increase the FC to SLAM level that's fine, but it's not advised to go over. Excess chlorine is simply a waste and can be a bit harsh on the vinyl as it exceeds the CYA level. With water getting that cold up there, organic growth will be extremely slow to non-existent, so the FC should last quite a while. Try to use regular bleach (or pool liquid chlorine though) to increase the FC so that you don't effect other items like the CYA level.
