During winter months/ should pump circulation run time be changed?

I live in North East Florida and want to know if many pool owners circulate their pumps at night versus daytime hours to protect from freezing? I was thinking 10 PM to 5 AM.

Let me know your thoughts & best practice.

Most variable speed pumps with built in timers have freeze protection built in so it will come in when the temp gets close to freezing. You should be able to set the rpm that it will run and what temp.

Great, I will check the control & manual to see about freeze protection. My pool tech from my builder never said anything about that but I use to live in Illinois and seen enough broken pipes, I don't want to take a chance on any damage. It's my first winter with a running pool here in Fl.

I doubt it gets cold enough long enough to freeze the plumbing where you are to even be concerned about it. It takes sub freezing temps for more than 8 hours to even begin freezing the plumbing.

I live in central TX and once we get our first freeze warning I switch my timer to night time, generally the hours you posted, or a little less. However, I also have an 8 ft deep pool, so I am just making sure my above ground pipe sections and pump-contained water don't freeze.
