Deck too high?

We just purchased a 54” pool and want to extend our current deck to the side to reach the pool. Our current deck is 60” tall. Is that too high? Will it look funny? We really don’t wanna add a stair to step down and basically cut the deck in half.

Assuming you’re an above ground pool, just adjust the grade of the pool base so final height is within the 60” threshold of the deck. Problem solved.

While it can be done, it needs to be engineered to all get out. Using a 24 ft above ground pool as an example, the base needs to support 112,000 lbs, or about 18 loaded 4 door F150s.
You know ladder lol
Ladders improve the options because you can build the deck to the pool and use a slightly longer ladder.

5 inches of compacted crusher run, with an inch of compacted sand on top to pad out the liner. If one wanted to form up a perimeter for the base in treated wood and then backfill behind the forms to ease a smooth gradual transition to the rest of the yard. What am I missing?
