DE Filter Was Leaking - Clamp not Tight; any other concerns?

My pool company (former...) replaced the grids in my DE filter last season. It never seemed right to me after since it would leak. I was a lazy owner and just didn't look into it. I opened the pool this year (first time doing that) and of course it continued to leak, since the problem didn't magically solve itself. Found some threads on here with a similar issue and the clamp probably wasn't tight. Well, I'll say! It seemed to be on just enough so that it was considered on. I do not have a torque wrench that does 150 pound feet of torque so I tightened it up quite a bit and have about a half inch of the screw coming out the other side now. And no more water seems to be leaking.... :)

I'll keep an eye on it and see if I finally have a dry pad after a couple of days. Anyway, should I be concerned of any premature wear with anything else for my pool since my filter clamp was barely tightened. I wouldn't think so but figured I'd ask the experts!! Thanks.

It’s actually 150 inch-pounds of torque, not foot-pounds. You have to be careful over tightening the bolt as it is brass and you can strip it. It’s $30 to replace the screw and bolt but nearly $400 to replace the band clamp so be careful with it.

There’s no harm in a leak other than lost water. Take the filter apart sometime and make sure the o-ring is lubed and not damaged in any way.
