Day 4 of SLAM

Well today marks day 4 of SLAM. I was really hoping that maybe I would be done today. It all started Wednesday night when I noticed that my cleaner didn't pick up some "stuff" in a certain area of the pool. Stuck the brush in to whisk it away yet it was stuck, pushed a little harder on the brush and then it went away. Noticed algea sitting on the down slopes of the walls started the SLAM process that night. The water is still pretty clear but obviously algea has invaded. So I started brushing late Wednesday night and raised fc to 16.
Initial test results:
fc: 5
cc: 0.5
ph: 7.5
TA: 70
CH: 100
CYA: 40
On Thursday I had to go to work with no one home to continue to raise fc so I just did the best I could. Raised it to a 16 and went to work at 730am. came home at 4pm fc was a 12, boosted back up to 16.
Friday took the day off and continued to SLAM. Kept fc to SLAM level (16) most of the day, vac'd and brushed everything twice, but it did drop below 16 at some points.
Saturday I was super dedicated with dosing every 30 minutes to keep fc at a 16, brushed twice and vac'd once, even took the ladder off and took a lookie lou. Threw pool toys in for several hours too. I would add chlorine every 30 minutes and test only about every 2 hours because I had learned how much chlorine was needed. Maybe this is WAY overkill but I only have one more day off before I go back to work. By 6pm my fc was a 20, little higher but it was clearly using less and less chlorine in the last few hours. Went to a friends house for a gathering, came home from friends house at 11pm and fc was a 19. I was thinking okay yay! my obsession with dosing the pool so often will pay off......
It's now Sunday am. The pool is super clear. However pool did not pass criteria.
545am fc: 15..... Didn't even check cc's because I lost more than 1 ppm fc. Bummer.
Okay I said all this to say have I been too focused on dosing the pool so often? Is it a big deal if the pools fc swoops from a 16, down to a 12 back to a 16, you get the picture. I have went through loads of chlorine. Like probably 20 gallons. Was I wasteful cause that Crud is expensive!
And will have to go get more today to finish this SLAM with hopes of it ending tomorrow...…

Is it a big deal if the pools fc swoops from a 16, down to a 12 back to a 16,
No, it's not exactly a big deal but it is based on a premise that the more often you raise the FC to SLAM value, the shorter your SLAM process will be.

That said, at your point now in your SLAM I would return to SLAM value not more then 2-3 times in a 24 hour period. You are close to being done.
