Cyanuric acid test

It there a drop test or some other test for CA ? Same with phosphates ? I’d line a more accurate test for both.

I never trust my dot test for CA. It is testing at 70 in my best use of the test.

I did have it tested at 2 different Leslie’s and it’s at 96 and 105. My main reason for going to Leslie’s is I cannot test for phosphates and I know algae eat phosphates. So once a month I go to 2 Leslie’s one after another and check the levels.

Pool looks great and my tests show the following. I just don’t want to have a bad experience and need to slam. My climbing CA number is my arch enemy. lol.

Thanks to this place I really have a handle on what I can measure (thanks TF100 pro) and control.

Theres no better test for CYA available for home users. Theres really no need either. If your off +\- 10ppm its no big deal. The pool store is even worse at it as youve found.

Phosphates are irrelevant in a TFP pool. I’ve never tested for them.

With 8 to 12 FC and a 70 CYA, (assuming it dips at times) the algae food is a moot point. Go set up a big buffet in the middle of the Sahara desert. Ain't nobody showing up to eat it.

The CYA test is my least favorite as well. I don’t have an answer for you on that, but what is your pool decking made of. Is that actual wood? I really like it.

Thanks we do too but it’s a maintenance nightmare. The pool deck is Mahogany and when we purchased the house it was so gray we thought it was pressure treated wood. I had it cleaned and stained and we were amazed. By September-October it will be gray again and next year we need to clean and stain again.
