Cover orientation?

Brand new to owning a hot tub and after having it set up for 2 1/2 weeks now, I decided to read the instructions. I actually was looking for a plumbing schematic for a small problem I was having and I came across this warning in the manual. It states that they highly do not recommend placing the seam of the cover over the control panel. I put the feet of my diy tub cover lifter under the tub before it was filled so I am a little bit stuck on how the cover gets placed on the tub. How important is this and for what reason would it reduce the life of the control panel. Is it the sun getting into the panel or the water vapors getting out that they are worried about. If I knew then maybe I could devise a way to make it a non issue. Any thoughts or guidance on this matter. I can reorientate it when I do a drain and refill but wasn’t planning to do that until it gets above freezing here in about march.

Ironically I just read the same thing in the Sundance (same company) manual this morning. I have my seam over the control panel also. The only thing I can think of is the possibility of steam escaping through that seam and keeping the control panel wet, but its designed to be water resistant so even that makes little sense. The cover is still over the control panel so direct sunlight will never hit it. I can't see it hurting anything and I have no desire to change the position of my cover lifter.

I would say its about the vapors escaping/ temp differences but I wouldn’t panic over it.
If you’re worried you can get a solar cover to lay down first before putting the cover on.
If you have an insulated hinge it’s probably even less of a worry.

Thanks for the responses. Yes it does have an insulated hinge and I really do want the cover coming off the direction it does and the pool orientation is what we wanted so I think I’ll leave it alone and get a pool blanket.
