Good morning All!

We had a late start on getting the water balanced this year. My 10,000 gallon pool is cloudy. It was green. A family member was being helpful and went to the local pool store (I know, I know stay out of there). Their readings advised us to lower the Ph, add metal removal, then add stabilizer. Then 2 bags shock. All of this over the course of a few hours/days. Then she was told "should be good to go". (Then to add the metal removal once a week.)

We are not good to go.
I tested the water this morning using my Taylor K2006 kit.

FC: 0.6
CC: 2.8
PH: 7.0
CH: 510
TA: 60
CYA: 50

I saw in the chart provided here that the target FC is 6-8 with that CYA with a minimum of 4.

Please guide me in how to proceed. Any advise will be appreciated!

I'm hopeful to have a beautiful clear pool by this Sunday for my Dad's 77 birthday party. 🎂

Good morning. After just opening to a green pool, it appears you have algae (green). Your FC is extremely low. I would go right into the SLAM Process using liquid chlorine as your main agent for killing the algae. Maintain an elevated FC of "20" basedon on your current CYA as noted on the FC/CYA Levels. The sooner you start that and follow the SLAM protocol, the quicker results you should see. If you have any questins let us know.

To clarify, what you saw there is during normal (non-algae) days. When you have algae, you have to look at the SLAM numbers. I'll put the chart before for you.

Good morning! I have made it through the SLAM process and here were my levels last night:
FC: 7.4 (has been dropping)
TA: 50
CYA: 60
PH: 7

I know I have to get the PH up - I do have some PoolMate PH Plus from my pre TFP days. Do I follow the directions on the back?

And if I should do something else, please let me know!

Many advanced thanks for the help/knowledge 🙂

Congrats on passing all 3 SLAM criteria. :goodjob: Instead of that pH Plus stuff, I would just add about 10-20 ppm of baking soda to increase the TA to 60-70. That alone should help allow the pH to rise. That and simply some time & aeration from being in the water, splashing, etc. If it doesn't move up to 7.2 or above after that, let us know.
