Cloudy pool from filter

We have an issue with our pool being cloudy for the past month or so. It’s been often on because I have been slamming the pool and doing the overnight test with success. After reading a little bit more today I found out that the filter could be the cause so I closed the valves and I am in the process of cleaning the sand with a hose and letting it run out the top. The pool became more cloudy after turning it into service mode which makes me think that some of the sand and debris from the filter might’ve ran back into the pool. Is the quickest way to clear it tonight to use flocculent And then vacuum in the morning. I plan on cleaning the filter tonight and making sure that is not an issue anymore. Chlorine levels are good and chemistry looks good also.
Update
The sand filter as nasty! And now clean. We have a party tomorrow so I will run the pump all night. Can I use floculent to also get the particles out. My chem looks good.

We have a cloudy pool despite SLAM. I deep cleaned the sand filter last night and it was very dirty towards the bottom. Not pond looking water but very cloudy.

I used floc last night and there wasn't much to vacuum up but the water was still very cloudy. I could barely see the water in the deep end.

This morning with the filter clean I have decided to run the inground cleaners all day to ciruculate the water and run the filter.

Anything else I should be doing? I have turned the RPMs up to hopefully increase the water turnover.

Cl 18
CYA 50
Ph high but probably not accurate due to Cl?

I'm concerned that if there wasn't much floc on the bottom then it was probably still in the water, which you are now running through your filter. That's not going to be good for your filter...

Don't use floc. Finish your sand deep clean and then you can vacuum the sand back into the filter. As to the water being cloudy, perhaps the SLAM Process was not technically completed? Hard to know for us at this point, but after your party you might post back with a full set of water test results and maybe a pic of the water so we can see it.

I added DE to the sand filter last night because we have a cloudy pool. I woke up this morning and it didn’t look like any water was flowing. I check the pump and there was air in it so my guess is the small amount of DE that I added was clogging the sand filter. I back washed it and now it’s on and running. While the pool is cloudy can I continue to add DE on a daily basis and then back wash it the next morning?

I would not use DE until the other requirements of the SLAM Process is complete. In other words, until your CC reading is .5 or below and you pass the Overnight Chlorine Loss Test, I would not use DE. DE is not required for most SLAMs, and is only a last-resort for some to achieve final water clarity. One of our concerns is that your filter (sand) may be compromised and not filtering well if floc or any similar product made it to the sand. What you may need to do is open the filter and inspect the sand. If it's light and fluffy, it should still be good. But if it looks gummy that could be the problem. If you haven't done a deep clean in a while, that might help.
