Will be my first closing ever so please bear with me. It is my understanding that my water level at time of closing needs to be 3/4 UP the skimmer to support the weight of the auto cover during winter. I believe you can use this device to close off skimmer?

I assume this device plugs off the skimmer and then you suck the entire skimmer area free of water after which you would blow out the line. You insert it on the pool side of skimmer, and it seals the skimmer area keeping all water out. I also have a traditional Gismo device that you screw in and blow out the line through the port.

Anyone ever used such a device, and does it work? Do you use this device in conjunction with a Gismo? I also have bungee plugs for the returns coming.

I'm just trying to gather all the necessary tools I will need when the time comes.

Thank you,
Dan

So i couldn't understand how the reviews for skimmer covers were so over the place, until i tried one. The 17 year old skimmer we inherited with the move was warped from UV, and the new plate was perfectly square/plumb. The skimmers filled back up in a matter of minutes (like 6), even with the *thick* rubber gasket on the faceplate to bridge any gaps.

YMMV with it. I would still use the gizmo and stuff the skimmer full of cut up pool noodles out of an abundance of caution. There's always a couple noodles to donate that barely made it though the season. :)
