Curious how well these (or Edge-25) have been holding up over the years. My Edge-40 is 2.5 years old with low salt blinking, but producing plenty of chlorine. I've tried everything recommended by support, and they said I could send it back for "evaluation". No prepaid shipping, no shipping one in advance. They said they would "determine costs involved under the warranty". That's a scary thought! So their "7 year warranty" is questionable. Since it's producing chlorine, I don't plan on doing this unless they put a new cell in sale. If this will just keep on going with a blinking light, great! My salt was 3500, I added a bag, now 3900, so it's not "low salt".

How do the plates look? Scale can cause funky readings.
I've cleaned twice per their recommendation. Some foaming first time, no foaming second time. Looks clean. They're not shiny aluminum color, somewhat stained look. Bubbles going through making chlorine.

Ok - for future, do not clean unless you have visible scale. Every time you clean, especially using manufacturers' instructions, you are removing the rare earth metals that make them function. Reduction in life span is assured with frequent cleaning. TFP also recommends only using 10:1 solution of vinegar for cleaning. Muriatic Acid at 2:1 or 4:1 is too strong.

I was using 4:1. It's been cleaned 4 times in 2.5 years, 15 minutes per at most.

Turns out their prorated warranty is 60% at 2.5 years, so $360 for a new cell (if they decide it's under warranty). I think I'll just wait until it stops producing & ignore the low salt light. Check cell hasn't come on. They said they (DSP) don't discount cells.

I think they know exactly what they're doing with the forever sale. It shaves another year or two of the functionality off the warranty when you have to buy the replacement at full price minus the prorated discount.

For new users it's a double win as a marketing ploy.

As much as I always want to dislike them for the shady games, any one of us would jump at a SWG for $144 a year. So even with their games I still can't be mad. Which makes even more mad that i cant be mad.:ROFLMAO:

I'd be thrilled if my IC60 lasted 10 years at $180 per.

Currently $910 for the Edge-40 which is a bargain. $600 for the replacement cell, not so much. Living with the blinking light, since the cell keeps up set on 25-37% running 8 hours in 100 degree heat (FC 5). If FC starts dropping, I'll buy some chlorine and send in.
