Changes after dig?

Hi all. We have our dig tomorrow morning and hit a small snag. We have our sunshelf offset of our covered patio columns and it just feels off not being centered. If I let them dig as is but make adjustments at gunite stage, will that cause a problem? For example if we shift if over 2 or 3 feet at that time (would need to dig a bit more on one side but would need support added on the other)? Or does the gunite really use the ground walls for support? Ideally I'd like to see how it feels after dig and before gunite before making any changes. Any help tonight is greatly appreciated!

Any changes should be communicated as early possible. Usually when I've seen this situation they will fill in the area that was essentially overdug by stacking up sand bags as support for the gunite to keep from shooting excessive amounts of it. And of course the other side would need to be dug out before the plumbing and rebar stages.

Thanks guys. I am so hesitant to push the digger on this tomorrow given 1) he is a sub contractor and 2) I've made a handful of changes already and it really goes against the grain with my PB. But seeing these columns built, i think it is something that will bother me if I don't fix it.

Does a couple of feet make much of a different on permits, inspections, etc if it is solely design and not function?

Thanks again. We got it addressed today at dig. It looks and feels much better. We also bought ourselves an extra foot of clearance from patio to shelf while we were at it.
