Can't regain control of our pool

This has been a disaster of a year. We have had pressure issues since last year, but it was a deal breaker at the time.
This year, we couldn't keep the pump running, it would die out after an hour or so. Full details [here](https://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/pressure-plumbing-issues.293934/)

It ended up being a combination of leak in the pre-filter pvc. We ran the filter in recirculate and it stayed running, the moment we turned it to filter it started doing it again. We knew the grids were old and we were planning on replacing them last year, but we figured we would wait until this year. We replaced them out and are able to run the filter in filter mode without a problem.

The pool is no longer green, but it remains cloudy even after putting endless bottles of 12.5 in. Every time I test the next day, we are down to 0.5 to 1.5 chlorine. We have been putting in 2-4 bottles a day. It remains cloudy, although it is getting better, it's still cloudy. Usually we open the poor and it is darker green than the worst swamp and I get crystal clear in a week or so. We have been able to remove all the green, but it remains cloudy.

Our [Dolphin M400 has been acting up](https://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/dolphin-m400-only-filling-one-filter-filter-light.300555/), and we depend on that for vacuuming, so I know that might be part of the problem, we are not vacuuming up as much as we normally would. We are emptying it and cleaning it and putting it back in multiple times a day. It doesn't help that we have 3 week long retreats, making dealing with this more difficult and frustrating.

Should I go to flocculant? I put two sessions of half a bottle of 50 Aglae cleaner in earlier in the season when it was deep green. I normally don't use any, but with the filter problems I was looking for additional help.

Are you performing a SLAM? What are your test results for CYA and FC? Floc wont help and you dont need anything other than the liquid chlorine.

My CYA levels are low, I've been putting a sock in filed with CYA, and it's slow to get it absorbed and since we have a larger pool, it needs a lot. Is there a faster solution than putting a sock in the skimmer? This is always a slow process to get enough CYA in the pool.

I haven't done a SLAM per say, but I have been dumping lots of 12.5 in trying to raise the levels but it's always super low when I test it the next day.
When I test for FC, it's always 0.5 - 3 at best. It's burning it all out. We put two 1G 12.5 in this morning, 5 hours later I got a test reading of 0.5 to 1. We have put like 40 bottles in the last few weeks.

Just dumping in chlorine is just wasting time and money. Follow the SLAM process.

Any idea why the filter will keep going up to 30 psi almost immediately after backwashing? We currently haven't added any DE because there is so much in the pool from when the grids were leaking it back into the pool. I do a backwash and rinse, and it comes down, but I don't add any DE as I think there is still a lot floating around in the pool. After 5-10 minutes it went from 13 psi and backup to 20 psi after backwashing it out. Pool is still cloudy, we went from 11 FC to 5.5 FC overnight, and I brought it back up. I also put two socks in trying to get the cya up faster
