Bug Identification

Hi folks! So for the last few days I’ve had thousands of these little black bugs in my skimmer sock and floating on the pool surface. When using Google lens, it says “aphid.” But I’m not certain so I figured I would ask here. The one pic is really blown up but you can see how tiny they are in the skimmer sock picture. If you know what they are…and how to get rid of them…I’m open to suggestions. Near Pittsburgh PA

Don't know what your bugs are, but I get similar infestations from time to time. It's seasonal, these guys come and go, not much that can be done about it apart from skimming. I sometimes use my brush to gently push them towards the skimmer to speed up clearing the surface before swimming.

some kind of swarming gnat, as above will probably be gone in a few days/weeks. be glad they aren't tiny stinging wasps. trust me, May is so fun around the pool.
