Hi folks,

On my old AGP, I bought an installed the Hayward SP056525 Elite Quartz Pool Light. Easy to install and came with a simple metal cutter so you can easily cut the hole out for the light in the metal pool wall.

Now I have a new pool I'm installing that has a Stainless steel service panel. Question...do I use the hole cutout tool in the stainless panel and install the light in that panel? Or do I just cut out a hole in the 'normal' metal wall section?

Thank you.

Your choice but the ss service panel is probably best for a couple reasons-
* If the seal around the light leaks the panel is less prone to rust (this is why all the other penetrations are there)
* it is much cheaper & easier to replace that panel than the entire pool wall.

Understood. I guess my secondary question is, does the little hole cutter they provide with the light...cut through Stainless ok? Or should I just use an old school hole saw to cut it out before I install the liner?

Now that I think this through...its probably best to cut out the hole before I even install the service panel on the pool wall; since I have all the pieces sitting here in the shop.
