I have an Intex 12'x24' AG Pool and I am going to intall a hayward widemouth skimmer and hard plumb it.

Given the rectangular nature and the walls being mobile when it is being used, is there any concern about the PVC cracking or leaking?

I have seen people use 'fernco' adapters (rubber plumbing connections) or using the standard intex soft hoses from the PVC to the pump and from the sand filter to the pool to 'absorb' the shock of the pool walls moving.

Any thoughts?

We've had a skimmer for years on our soft-sided pools (starting at 33" deep)!! It's an amazing upgrade.
Side Tip:: be sure to fill the pool up to the bottom of the skimmer height BEFORE cutting the liner, making sure the liner has been stretched into place. And place the skimmer as HIGH as you can (we keep the top screw at the horizontal loop seam), as the water level will only come up to the top screw on the side of the skimmer (approx).

You can try just using the intex hoses (unless you are moving the equipment away from the pool), we actually slit a pool noodle (like a hot dog bun) and placed it under the hose that was in contact with ground (smooth pebble landscaping around our pool to discourage animal "behaviors", lol). It's worked a mint!
We DO support the skimmer box, my DH uses a wood 2x4 under the bottom straight to the ground, but I'm trying to talk him into an aluminum bar that goes across two legs under the skimmer box as I've seen online, for a cleaner look. ;)
