Hello,

We purchased a house last year and are getting around to opening a pool that has not been touched in years. You can see some pictures here (http://imgur.com/a/JFZZj). The pools equipment (whats left of it) is down a hill off to the side of the pool. It is well below the waterline of the pool. I was wondering if I could save a little money by using an above ground pool pump such as the Hayward Power-Flow Matrix 1.5 HP 2 speed to save a little money. Seems to me since it does not have to draw up the water there would be little need for an IG pool pump, but I could certainly be wrong. What do you think?

Something I have been wondering as well.

I have extensive experience with positive displacement pumps (have to be primed) and as long as the suction does not go up then down, like a reverse trap, it should be primed all the time, but I would like to hear the tfp answer.

I would also like to know about going the other way, a ago with a ig pump.
