About ready to SLAM? Few Q's

Pool is green :( These past 3 weeks have been messy in our backyard. We had a lot of cement work & landscaping done, so there's been quite a bit of debris getting in the pool. I just cleaned the filter cartridges last night & started running the pump filter 24hrs.

Here's the readings I have today.
FC = 0
CC = .2
PH = 7.4
TA = 60
CYA = I guess 0 since I could still see the black dot even with the vile filled to the top.

Do I need to get my CYA up first before starting the SLAM?
Can I use Clorox Pool&Spa Shock to start a SLAM? I still have a dozen bags sitting in a box.

Yes, you should get your CYA level up if you want the SLAM to work. If you don't raise your CYA, the Chlorine will burn up and won't be used to appropriately clean your pool!

Take a look at PoolMath to figure out how much stabilizer you will need to get your CYA up to 30, then you need to get the FC up to Shock level, which for 30 CYA is 12ppm (FC). Feel free to add bleach to your pool now even before you get your CYA level up to par - but just know it will most likely drop quickly due to the lack of CYA. Once you get your CYA level up you will need to monitor your FC level quite a bit and keep it at 12ppm for the remainder of the SLAM.

I'm not sure about the Clorox Pool & Spa Shock. If it's liquid bleach I think it should be fine. Make sure you plug in the strength (%) of bleach into the calculator.

Neither one. Fill some in a knee-hi stocking that won't be enough to impede flow and place in skimmer basket. Repeat as necessary. Pump running till all is dissolved. Don't backwash for 3 or 4 days. Do that now if you need to.

I just wanted to say thank u to everyone participating on this site! Followed the SLAM procedure & took a lot of advice (lots of reading) here. My pool has been crystal clear for the past weeks now! U all rock!!

Also I've been using a filter sock in my skimmer & it catches quite a bit of the tiny stuff. I remove & rinse it out like every 2 or 3 days. So far all is good :)
