Testing Question

We just recently opened our above ground pool. 15' across x 30" deep. (round) I have a 3 way testing kit. The chlorine test shows o. What does a normal level for this need to be? I did a shock treatment on Friday when I opened it. I plan on using bleach instead of the shock treatment you buy. My PH level is 7.8. I have done some reading but just wondering how the chlorine level should read with my test kit. Thanks for any help!

Chlorine is a consumable item and the single most important thing you put in your pool. read "The ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry" up in Pool School and that will help get you started.
